NEWSLETTER - 24.4.26 Yellow 5 This week Yellow 5 have been reading Oliver’s vegetables. In Cookery we made our own salad and learned how to hold a knife safely. We chopped the vegetables to make a healthy salad. A trip on the train! Green 2 picked a lovely sunny day to take the train from Bishop Auckland to the Locomoon Railway Museum at Shildon. It was a great opportunity for the children to experience using public transport and to enjoy their local community. As we head into the Summer term please accept this gentle reminder to send your child into school with a named water bole (where appropriate), a labelled bole of sun cream and labelled sun hat . This Summer we are focusing on athlecs in PE. At school this includes running, jumping and throwing. Its an ideal me to get out and about for wellbeing walks/trips out in wheelchairs, jumping in puddles/paddling and throwing balls and frisbees. Now that the weather is starng to get brighter, here are a few suggested places to go to enjoy the outside. Hamsterley Forest: A fantasc, friendly spot featuring a dedicated new wellbeing area . Seaham Seafront & Marina: Known for its welcoming atmosphere, the coastal path is high but the beach is wide and relaxing. The Story at Mount Oswald (Durham City): Hosts free weekly,, walks for all abilies on Tuesdays at 10:00 am. Causey Arch Picnic Site: A very quiet and scenic spot featuring a, walk to the historic bridge, a tea room, and a, ,accessible, flat route, making it perfect for a relaxed, and, nature-focused, stroll. Raby Castle Park and Gardens: Offers extensive grounds for walking, with accessible routes available for wheelchairs and families, plus the chance to enjoy a, ,friendly, environment. Low Barns Nature Reserve: A tranquil locaon run by the Durham Wildlife Trust, perfect for, wildlife spong and a peaceful, nature walk. Dates for your Diary 2026. Ausm Week- Week Beginning 27 th April (look out for further info coming home). May Bank Holiday (School Closed)- Monday 4 th May The Oaks Year 6 Open Evening- Wednesday 6 th May, 5pm. School finishes for May Half Term- Friday 22 nd May. School reopens for the final Half Term- Monday 1 st June.
